In advance of the country’s historic Platinum Jubilee in June, our Senior Curator Liz Montgomery will explore the excitement and pride felt by the people of Chester for the Queen’s Coronation in 1952. This story will be told through one special object – a Coronation handbag.
Our free Object of the Month talks celebrate West Cheshire Museums’ collections and highlight the enthusiasm and care that goes into preserving the history of our area and bringing the collections to life. Aimed at a lunch-time audience, the talks give a fascinating insight into the unfolding work of our three curators and Archaeological Officer, much of whose work takes place behind the scenes. One of the unseen but vital parts of their work is to research objects and uncover the stories behind them. Their talks will be informative and interesting on a wide range of subjects and will, we hope, spark your interest in the on-going story of our museums’ collections.
