Roman doctors made a unique contribution to the history of medicine through the work of famous practitioners such as Galen, Celsus and Dioscorides.  This exhibition explores the fascinating world of Roman medicine from diagnosis to deals with the Gods through to death, with amazing artefacts from across the Roman Empire joining those uncovered in Chester itself.  Sponsored by the Wellcome Institute and working closely with local experts, Big Heritage, we have used the most up to date scientific methods to analyse our Roman collections and bring the medical stories of the inhabitants of Roman Chester to life.
