The Intrigue of Cheese: Cheshire Salt and the Dairy Industry

1 December 2019 - 16 February 2020

Salt has been crucial in the development of Cheshire’s dairy and cheese production for over 2000 years. Voluntary Researcher, Tom Holmes, has drawn on a range of primary and secondary sources to pull together this fascinating exhibition, which will surprise and amuse with quirky tales, the history, trade, traditions and influence of Cheshire cheese. Students from Reaseheath College’s award-winning cheese-making department have produced storyboards showing the modern processes, which are displayed alongside objects from the museum stores.
