Dr Caroline Pudney explores how archaeology can be socially beneficial. She will show how prison-based outreach projects can offer an innovative trajectory for public archaeology, and specifically the rehabilitation of offenders. Through successful partnerships between heritage and other specialists, and as part of wider programmes of support and intervention, she will demonstrate the potential for future, ‘translational’ public archaeology.
