Join us for a weekend of all things cheesy as we celebrate the impact salt has had on the historic and contemporary Cheshire cheese industry. We welcome Jenny Linford, author of Great British Cheeses, Dan Acres and the Periodic Table of Cheese Game Show, chef demonstrations, a cheese-making walk-through and lots more to whet the palette of the cheese-intrigued.

The inaugural CheeseFEAST Festival at Lion Salt Works: a weekend of fascinating talks, demonstrations and cheese-tastings to delight both cheese lovers and those who want to find out more about the county’s most famous export.

Programme

1030 Tour of the Museum’s new Dairy and Cheese Exhibition. The exhibition also
features Aardman Animations’ model of ‘The Cheese Tent’ from the film
‘Wallace & Gromit and the Curse of the Were-Rabbit’.
1145 ‘Live’ cookery demonstration, featuring cheese recipes by Paola Cecchini,
La Cucina Di Paola
Lunch break
1400 Author of ‘Great British Cheeses’, Jenny Linford, talks about her book
1500 Talk by Debbie Heritage from Reaseheath College about cheese
production and the college’s industry-leading dairy and cheese courses.
1600 Quirky talk by ‘Periodic Table of Cheese’ founder, Dan Akers, about why he
invented this animated game

Tours of archive dairy and cheese implements and Aardman Animations ‘The Cheese Display’ from Wallace and Grommit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit.

Lunch can be purchased in the Museum’s café and the nearby Salt Barge pub will be selling cheese-themed food. A pickling and fermenting workshop will be held by The Fairland Collective over lunch and in the afternoon of Saturday 16th November as part of their project ‘The Great Salt’ – a collaboration with FEAST Journal and the Lion Salt Works Museum. People will be able to taste, prepare and take home a variety of recipes as well as hearing about the Collective’s research into how the salt industry has shaped culinary traditions and the local environment.
